Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio has provided homeownership opportunities to over 968 low-income families in need. Habitat is not a charity or “handout” program, but rather they help families help themselves. As part of its home buying program, qualified families are required to complete 300 “sweat equity” construction hours to help build their homes, attend homeownership readiness training, and make 0% interest mortgage payments on their home.
